Sewing for Lilli

Last week I was sewing up a gift for a very sweet person who I have known since she was a child. Our sweet Lilli was having her bridal shower.

Went down to Joann's and picked out some fabric.

I decided I would make an apron, a tote and some coasters.

Love this fabric, I know it's hard to tell but the solid is the color lavender.

I used some scrap fabric from my stash to make the coasters.

While I was sewing, I was thinking back at what a sweet girl she was and  what a beautiful women she has become.

How do you like the tote? The inside was lavender, so sorry I forgot to get a shot of that.

I put a sweet ruffle on the bottom and a band above that.  It looks like a dress soo cute!

I really don't know how she's decorating, but I thought she would like this burlap pillow with their initials on it.

I was there the night before and helped set up for the shower so we took a picture together.  In a couple of weeks she will be walking down the aisle to be married. I can't wait to be a part of her big day!

Look what I've been up to

Hello Friends,
I decided to try my hand at decoupage.  I wanted something over my bed for awhile now, but didn't want to spend a whole lot of money.  I thought I would print something and decoupage the image on to canvas so this is what I came up with.

Before

I'm calling it my Monet because up close it's a big ole mess.  This process was exhausting I rubbed my little fingers raw.  What did I do wrong?  I think I left to much of the paper on.

Well anyways, here is what it looks like as long as you don't get up close it doesn't look to shabby.

Now I was on a crafting roll, I decided to try stenciling. I picked up this piece of wood for free at an estate sale, bought some stencils and painted the wood with vanilla and gray craft paint. When the wood was dry I started stenciling ughh!
It took me a couple of hours and it was hard to keep the letters spaced properly because the stencil wasn't clear. So I had a hard time with that part, but I do like how it turned out.  Will I do it again? uhh I'm not sure.

Like most of you I'm getting ready for fall.  So I shopped my garage for stuff.

I took out my grapevine wreath that had alot of stuff with the color orange and I  pulled it all out.  I want to go more neutral this year.

I'm keeping it simple, I just added a burlap bunting.

I wanted a little color so I decoupaged my letter R.

Now it looks like this.  I got the subway art form Katie Browns' Blog

While I was at it I decopaged the little pumpkin.
The subway art was from The Frugal Home Maker

Well that's what I've been up to.  Stay tuned for more of my life in 1000sqft.

Blue Party

My  daughter was planning a small dinner for her hubby's 32nd birthday, and asked me to help her decorate. She wanted to go with the color blue, we did it in a weeks time and all for under 20 dollars.

The scrap book paper was on sale at 4 for a dollar and we spent about 3.00 dollars.
I decided to make a quick pennant banner.

I wrapped some cans for the centerpieces and made some paper pinwheels and stuffed the cans with shredded paper.  I already had the fabric for the runner, so it was a quick sewing job to make it the right length for the table and it was a done deal.

Jessika already had this sweet chalkboard so I used it for the gift table.

This is my version of subway art.  We used this sign on the dessert table.

We decided to do an Ice cream social for dessert.

It was all very yummy and the kids really loved making their own sundae.

Happy Birthday Eric!
May the Lord give you the desires of your heart.

Stay tuned for more of my life in 1000sqft.

Thrift Store Finds

I finally got around to doing something with my thrift store finds.  I know it took forever, it takes me awhile to get motivated so let's get on with it.

Just a reminder of what I got.

Lookie what I did! I re-covered that blue memo board in this black and white fabric that I got at the thrift store there was 3 yards and I got it for 2.50 and I used some vintage buttons that I got at an Estate sale I always get buttons cause you can use them in so many ways.

Remember that big jar?  I got some chalkboard sheets from Michael's, cut my shape
out and stuck it on. Then I made a hole on the top and now I have a place for my twine.  I don't know about you, but I'm just loving twine and I've been finding it at estate sales like crazy.  The other day I was at a garage sale and I became a stalker, you know what I mean, there was a huge spool of twine and this lady beat me to it but I heard her say she wasn't sure about it, so yep I stalked her (don't judge me) but she bought it,  next time I have to be faster on the draw.

At that same sale I found this other big jar.  I cant wait to fill it with something.

It's a good feeling when you finish a project.

I was on a roll so I also stamped these small burlap squares I got at Michael's.

I also wanted to share my other thrift store finds with you all. Nice frame's don't you think.  I don't know what I'll use them for but there going in my stash.

I like this, I'm sure it's a cover for a butter dish but lets call it a cloche.

I really like this hmm, how did he get there.

Update on my Rose its almost there!

I decided to put my frog's under the little cloche, what do you think?

Well I still have to do something with the green bucket and the tray so stay tuned.  Tomorrow is Friday and there's always lots of garage sales so that's my plan be back soon.

The making of a chalk board

I got this tray for 25cents at a garage sale this weekend. So I decided to make it into a chalk board.

I got some tape and covered the part I didn't want painted and it wasn't easy it had this scalopped edge so it took me forever
Then I already had this chalkboard spray paint that I have been dying to use, so this was the the day
I spayed it with a couple of coats and this is what I got

It was pretty easy, I can't wait to make something else into a chalkboard.

Well that's it for now stay tuned I have been working on some of the things for the lady bug party be posting soon.

With all my heart,

Yolanda
